x+y=12
x=12-y
not sufficient since value of x & y not know

sufficient

#2: x-y=4
x=4+y
not sufficient since value of x & y not know

IMO C ..

IMO D ..

Im not sure of D here since though we are getting answers from both statements but the answers are varying with sign..

2x-y is not zero.
We need value of 2x-y
As there are two variables, we need two equations to know their values. So both together are sufficient, neither alone is.
