What is your post MBA goal...

More likely General Management for me. After graduation I hope to land a position in a rotational program of non-financial services firm. Having worked in Financial Services since graduation, I came to realize that Financial Services = no work/life balance, hence I want to switch gears and try something different. I am aslo considering Marketing but having no experience or extensive knowledge of what it actually entails, I am hesitant to vote for Marketing now.

Entrepreneurship for now, but with the realization that I'll be exposed to lots of things in b-school that will crystallize my thoughts with respect to a lot of different areas.

Also still interested in Strategy/General Management/Marketing

General Management in tech, or Corp strategy (in tech).

Fund, Fixed Income or Equity sales. Institutional.

"Other" for me. I want to work in policy making/strategy for a government/econ development agency, immediately after MBA and hopefully take the e-ship plunge after a while.

healthcare consulting right out of b-school and then into a healthcare management role.

My brother is trying to push me in that direction...especially now that I got into Kellogg. I guess ad agencies strongly prefer Kellogg grads and most of the vps and directors of marketing on the client side he deals with that have MBAs got them from Kellogg. He loves his career, and says that even when you work long hours its really fun since you deal with lots of interesting ideas and people. A lot more creativity, even when analyzing data it can be very interesting since its people's opinions and desires not financial data.

I have zero background for it but am definitely considering in majoring in that too just because of Kelloggs rep in the field it will look great on a resume whatever job I go into. I have heard its a great addition to the management majors because of the skills it gives you compliment management well. Also, judging by what my brother makes it can be a very lucrative field if you are motivated and good at what you do...also like banks, companies can be highly competitive for talent. It is probably the one career that interests me the most other than what I hope to do and the more I learn about it the more it seems like a great fit for me. Besides most of the positions are far more casual than the straightlaced banking world, so I probably would fit a lot better.

Not many applicants in here who are into i-banking/IM. Consulting and entrepreneurship seem to be popular career choices in here....hmmm...

Banking seems harder to break into and many of us having nothing to do with banking now. I am sure some will change their minds and will look into it once they show up.

currently I have no interest in banking, unless it's VC. Watch me eat my words two years later... like rhyme saying "I'm not interested in Chicago GSB"

And I am sure you will defend that decision, equally vehemently.

I think my goal is to move into general management, and my hope is that consulting will expose me to the different kinds of high-level decisions that managers need to make.

At least that's my thinking now. Who knows what will actually happen?

Im in IT consulting now, and it's erratic at best. Days when I wonder why I get paid and soon enough days when I know why. Meanwhile Ive been with a really small boutique for nearly 3 years now and have really enjoyed seeing it grow as a company.

Right after MBA I would like to do management consulting to gain experience in different functionalities and industries. After couple of years I prefer to be in management to have a better work-life balance.
