We all know that there are various levels of difficulty when it comes to GMAT questions.
My question is, does anyone know
how they form the questions for the various difficulty levels?
Do they base it on:
1.
Time - basically take an average of the length of time it takes to answer a question, and then based on that time set the difficulty? I.e. the longer it takes the average person to answer it, the higher the difficulty level becomes?
2.
Steps - if for example, to get to an answer, one must figure out 1 thing, and then another, and then another, before ultimately landing on an answer. I.e. the more steps it takes, the higher the difficulty?
3.
Complexity - the more outside the box one has to think to answer the question. But how is this quantified?
4.
Any others? In short what I'd like to know is, if I were hired by GMAC to write questions for them and I've never written a single one before, what would the set of instructions on how to do so look like?
Thanks!
