Sounds like there will be quite a bit of overlap between them then--don't see any way around it.

Inside one of the school applications, it asks for my short-term goals (150 words limit) and long-term goals (150 words limit)

But in one of the actual essay questions, it also asks for what career/role I am looking to pursue and why (250 word limit)

What is the best way to approach this? I'd be basically saying the same exact thing

Hi there,
It's a bit strange they repeat the question, but the best thing in my opinion is to answer both questions the same way, in order to show you have concrete career goals.
You can see here some tips for writing career goals essay along with some essay samples: https://www.aringo.com/Career_Goals_Essay.htm

They will definitely be the same when it comes to content. The reason for the repeat is merely to document within the application itself information they view as valuable. For example, some schools don't ask about goals at all. They feel it doesn't matter. Kellogg clearly does. They want to have it located on the form itself so no one has to go into your essays to find that information. It's not meant to be tricky :)

You MISREAD THE QUESTIONS. The short and long term responses are 150 CHARACTERS, not words. You have around a sentence to tell them what you want to do. Then in the longer essay you get to tell them what you want to do in more depth.

READ MORE CAREFULLY.
