What's the strategy for choosing numbers when doing Data

Question

What's the strategy for choosing numbers when doing Data sufficiency ??

When the problem states x>0 or x is positive etc , its simple u pick +ve numbers... My confusion is do you pick +ve fractions or +ve integers,

what's the trick here to choose nos ?? can ne 1 explain the strategy from a wholistic view ??

unless question specifies x is integer, you should always consider fractions

So i'm assuming , in effect u r saying , pick 0,1,-1 and then pick fractions as well

Agree with gmatmba. 
Honestly, before picking the numbers make sure that you understand the question properly. Most of the time, if you can reduce the complex expression to a simpler equation, there is no need to pick numbers..

For eg., if you see an expression xy0.. Which means x is +ve. So you will need to pick a +ve value for x and -ve value for y..
