Hi there thank you for getting back.
I have been scoring between middle to high 40s in my quants and mid 30s in my Verbal. After each exam I analyze both the sections and the IR. Also try doing the verbal sections available on GMAT club online. My Wednesday afternoons are reserved for the Mock CATs included in these tests is writing the AWA as well, I allow myself only 2 breaks of 8 minutes each as would be allowed during the regular GMAT exam. I am taking the GMAT in the third week of November. I will be taking the official GMAT exams after I finish the last Kaplan exam this week. I had started preparing since August 2016.

As far as my background is concerned, it is in Physics. I have 5 peer reviewed and 2 first author publications. My research is centered around developing the scientific tools necessary to market ophthalmic instruments. I also have 8 conference presentations including extremely prestigious national (USA) and international ones. Also have a book chapter and an invited talk at Duke University's Medical Center. Supplementing these I have 10 years of university teaching experience in introductory physics in USA including mentoring undergraduate students for research.

Further on in the past I had worked in Sales and marketing in India for 4 years in my family owned startup company. I am in my mid 30s now. I am actually looking for a PhD degree in Marketing or Strategy. I already have a clear cut plan as to what project I want to pursue for my dissertation.

What I will really appreciate is if you could consider my background and comment what would be the category of schools I may fit in with a score between 700-730.

Hi questfulmind,

The process of applying to (and ultimately attending) Business School will require a big investment of time, money and energy on your part, so you really should make sure that the Programs that you apply to match your career goals/needs. There are a variety of factors that go into selecting the Schools that you'll apply to. Instead of just applying to Programs in which you might have a good chance to 'get in', here are some other things to think about:

1) Is there a particular company that you want to work for or industry that you want to work in? Certain degrees are more appropriate than others if you have a specific career goal.
2) What do you want your MBA to do for you?
3) Do you want to go to School full-time or part-time?
4) Are you willing to relocate? Are you comfortable with working through a program that is primarily online?
5) Are you going to be applying for scholarships?
Etc.

It's okay if you don't have answers to any of these questions just yet, but you really should try to define all of the important variables in terms of your goals, so that you can tailor your entire approach to getting into the best School that matches what you're looking for.

As far as your GMAT studies are concerned, you really didn't answer any of my prior questions - and I'll need those answers before I can offer any advice in that area.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
