Hey y'all!
I'm planning on applying to a macc program next year.
I took the GMAT last month and scored a 430, with 10 days of prep behind me (I know it's really far from enough but, anyways....).
I haven't studied since and took a practice yesterday, still 430.
I chose to only focus on Quantitative and Verbal sections as IR makes me feel dizzy
!
Out of 37 questions in Q, I got 11/17 DS and 11/20 PS right.
Out of 41 questions in V, I got 11/23 Passage and 13/18 Sentence correction right.
What I want to know is, what areas should I focus on more, knowing that I don't have anything else to do as school is over, and I got plenty of time on my hands...?
How much time do I need to spend studying before retaking the GMAT? (I know it's hard to answer this question but please, give me an estimation)
I need to score at least 560...

To reach your goal, you want to improve 100 points. You can improve in both Quant and Verbal, so you should spend time covering GMAT basics. As for how much you should study, while each student’s needs are different, we recommend that you take between 80 - 120 hours to study for the GMAT. This allows you enough time to answer most of our 5,000 practice questions, as well as take a few sim tests and tutor sessions.
In terms of how many hours per day to study, you should look at how much time you have available versus the hours recommended above. We suggest that you study for at least 1.5 hours per weekday and 4+ hours on weekend days (assuming you have a traditional work-week schedule). You should also pay attention to your personal needs. For example, if you find that 4 hours of study is too much and you are not absorbing information, then reduce the number of hours you study at one time. It would be counterproductive to continue studying if you’re too exhausted.
You should also take short breaks after each hour of studying to clear your head and renew your energy. Ideally 10-17 study hours per week is good goal, but this can easily go up or down based on your availability and how soon your test is coming. Part of the your study time should also involve reviewing summaries and notes you take along the way. In total, it’s ideal to allow 8 to 12 weeks to study properly for the GMAT.

On the quant I would recommend you to solely focus on the basics and ignore the harder and advanced concepts. This means targeting the areas of arithmetic, algebra, and word problems. For example, you can leave geometry for later, because it is one of those topics that requires a significant investment of time but the number of questions tested in the exam is far lower(about 4 for Geometry and Coordinate Geometry). Of course, for higher scores one needs to review all the topics.
In addition, practice solely focus on easy and medium problems in the short term. This would mean doing the first two-thirds of the Official Guide to GMAT 13th edition and OG Quant Review 2nd Edition.
