Hi All,
I just took my GMAT last saturday and scored a 610. I got a (47Q, 27V). But my main problem throughout my practice exams (10+ CAT exams) was that I did poorly on my Quant and did pretty well on my Verbal. On the 2 practice tests that I did well on the Quant, I did poorly on the Verbal. It makes no sense, but that is exactly what happened. I could never get a 47 on both Quant and Verbal at the same time, but would hit 47 either in Quant or in Verbal, but never both.
I took the Kaplan classroom course and still have access to all the Kaplan materials. I can probably put in about 10 hours per week and I am targetting a 700 score. Any strategies that I should follow? Any tips? Any advice? I just ordered the
OG 11, which should arrive tomorrow and I have the Princeton Review book as well. Should I start studying like I did from day 1 or should I go with some specific approach this time?
I looked through some of the older posts and picked the 100 hour study plan, which I think I can accomplish in the next 2 months. I am thinking of taking the GMAT for the second time in Jan. But I think I would like some serious advide on how to stay calm. I usually panic even to take a simple Kaplan Cat exam. That is really the reason I did so poorly on the Quant section in the practice exams, although on the real GMAT I did okay on the Quant.
I speak English pretty much like a native speaker and have lived in the US for a very long time. But I sometimes have a tendency to use my gut to find the right answer for SC, as opposed to using a strategy. Is this wrong? How do I go about improving on CR and RC? Kaplan recommends some strategies for CR like causality, representativeness and plan/prediction/proposal. But I can clearly identify these cases only on few of the questions. How can I improve on CR? Any tips on RC will be appreciated as well.
Thanks,
