Hi there,

Nice work on the practice tests and solid job on your verbal on the official. Provided that you've been taking the practice tests in realistic conditions I think it is worth going for the retake relatively soon. Besides just staying sharp on everything, I would try two things on the practice tests (definitely get the rest of the official ones):

1. On the Data Insights I would plan two skips/guesses on two TPA questions post question 7 (flag them so if you have time you can easily go back). This way you give yourself more breathing room for the rest of the section and, again, if you have time then you can go always solve the two you guessed on at the end.

2. I would plan for three 'auto-skips' on the quant section after the first 7 questions. So I would plan to skip/guess on 8, 13, and 17. Flag them in case you have time at the end. Again, this gives you more space for the rest of it and a better chance at having a decent attempt.

For the quant auto-skips you can give the questions a 20 second (no more!) scan to see if it is something that you know 99.9999% you will get correct easily. An example is: What is the units digit of 2^32? If you get something like that then commit but skip the next one. Anything that has wrinkle in it just skip. Make the bar very high for doing an auto-skip.

Hope that helps - good luck,

A.

We can give you general advice here with the limited information that you can share in your post. The ideal situation to maximise your score would be get a testing skills diagnostic done. That would identify your process gaps (how you tackle each type of question in a consistent way - or not) which are the things that can be fixed with a week or two with the right kinds of targeted skills drills.

Hi crystalgirl123,

Given your 715 practice test score and the issues you faced on test day, I think you should retake the GMAT sooner rather than later. From a content perspective, you’re clearly where you need to be—just go ahead and get it done.
