it's exactly the other way around - I don't assume there are more, I just don't assume there definitely aren't more. AS long as we don't for sure that these are all the courses, we have no way of answering

What was Bill's average (arithmetic mean) grade for all of his courses?


(1) His grade in social studies was 75, and his grade in science was 75.

(2) His grade in mathematics was 95.


In order to determine Bill's average (Arithmetic mean) grade for all of his courses we must know the total number of courses that Bill was enrolled in and his score in each of those courses. Clearly, neither statement gives us this information, and even together, the two statements would be insufficient in determining the average grade for all the courses.
