Asked is Hachi’s average number of pages read for 15 days
Statement 1:
(1) Hachi read an average of 22 pages during the first 10 days.
average number of pages for first 10 days = 22. Thus, the total pages = 22*10 = 220
The average or total pages is not known. Hence insufficient
Statement 2:
(2) The average number of pages Hachi read during the first 10 days is two more than twice the average number of pages read for the remainder of the days.
let the average number of pages for the last 5 days be A
average number of pages for first 10 days = 2A+2
Without knowing the value of A, it’s impossible to find The total average for 15 days. Hence insufficient
Combining both statements 1 and 2, we get
2A+2 = 22, solving we can get A = 10
Hence sufficient. Option C

Option 2:
first day 10 days: let's say Hachi read 2x+2 pages
Then for the other 5 days he read x
but from this we can't say the average pages read in 15 days.
Option 1+2:
First 10 days he read 22 page then for next 5 days he read = 22-2=20/2=10
So in total he read 220+50=270 pages
270/15=average can be found. Hence option C
