What was the percent increase in the earnings per share of company x from year 2000 to 2010?

n= number of shares
x= price of each share
1= year 2000
2= year 2010
 To find: (x2-x1)/x1*100 (percent increase in the earning per share)

(1) The total earnings of company x increased by 70% from 2000 to 2010
n2*x2=1.70*n1*x1
x2/x1 = 1.70 * (n1/n2)
INSUFFICIENT

(1) The total number of shares of company x increased by 30% from 2000 to 2010
n2= 1.30* n1
INSUFFICIENT

Combining 1 and 2
(\(\frac{x2}{x1}\)-1)*100
(1.70*\(\frac{n1}{n2}\)-1)*100
[(1.70/1.30)-1]*100

SUFFICIENT
