What would be the y-intercept of a vertical line that passes through the origin?
It wouldn't have one.

GMAT won't generally ask questions about things that are mathematically 'up in the air' or undefined in this way - it's similar to asking you what the value of 3/0 is, or 0^0.
If you want a more mathematical rationale, think about how you calculate a y-intercept. The y-intercept is the point where x = 0, so, in order to find it, you plug in x = 0 to the equation of the line. However, a vertical line has no equation, since its slope is "infinite" - its equation is basically, y = (infinity)*x + something. What do you get when you plug in x = 0? No clue - I don't know what infinity*zero is, and neither does the GMAT.
