Rectangular VAT is a rectangle with a deep inside. The volume of it is \(l*w*h\); The height of the VAT is \(3\) feet
\(\frac{2}{3}\) of the capacity of the VAT contains \(60\) gallons of water
So, the whole VAT will contain \(=\) \(60*\frac{3}{2}\) = \(90\) gallons
\(7\frac{1}{2}\) \(=\) \(\frac{15}{2}\) gallons represents \(1\) cubic foot
So, 90 gallons will be equal to \(\frac{2}{15}*90\)\(=12\) cubic foot
Thus, he volume of it is \(l*w*h\) \(=12\)
So,\( l*w*3 = 12\)
\(l*w = 4\) square foot
\(l*w\) is the area the base of the VAT
The answer is A

Let the total capacity of vat = C
Given, 2/3*C = 60 Gallons
∴ C = 90 ft^3
Now, we have to find the area of base of vat when it's 1/12th filled to its capacity because 15/2 gallons is 1/12th of volume of vat. Since, it's given that 60 gallons is 2/3 of total capacity and if we divide 60 Gallons thrice by 2 we arrive at 15/2 Gallons = 2/3*1/8 = 1/12*C
1/12*L*B*H = 1 ft^3
L*B*3 = 12
L*B = 4 ft^2 (A)
Given, 2/3*C = 60 Gallons
∴ C = 90 ft^3
Now, we have to find the area of base of vat when it's 1/12th filled to its capacity because 15/2 gallons is 1/12th of volume of vat. Since, it's given that 60 gallons is 2/3 of total capacity and if we divide 60 Gallons thrice by 2 we arrive at 15/2 Gallons = 2/3*1/8 = 1/12*C

Vinit800HBS please could you help me with the below math:
We know that the volume = l x b x h and we are given that the h = 3 feet
So 2/3 of l x b x 3 = 60G OR lb = 30G
Now, 15/2 G = 1 f^3 OR 15G = 2 f^3
So, 30G = 4 f^3 i.e. lb (area) = 4 f^3
I am getting my answer in cubic feet instead of square feet. Where am I going wrong?
