A rectangular vat is in the shape of a cuboid. The question says that it is filled to 2/3 of its capacity with water to a depth of 3 feet.
So, water takes 2/3 of the volume of the cuboid(l*b*h), where h=3ft.

The question further says it contains 60 gallons of water and 7.5 gallons of water takes \(1ft^3\) of space(volume).
If 7.5 gallons occupies \(1ft^3\) of volume,
60 gallons occupies 60/7.5 = \(8ft^3\) of volume of cuboid.

Hence, (2/3)*(l*b*h) = 8
(2/3)*(l*b)*3 = 8 ,where (l*b) represents area of the base of vat.
(l*b) = 4, So the correct answer should be A.
