Cool. Now we have the motivation.
The midwest is not a bad idea though, since people from two coasts won't be flying too far. (Use southwest, about 200 for round trip)

I dont drink or smoke and neither am I headed to B-school, but I can join if you guys wont be bored to death.

GMAT Club can provide a small budget if the gang is not more than 30-40 members. I am still working on the exact amount, but it might not be a lot. A lunch or dinner perhaps

Here I thought I would be the only person that doesn't drink. Seems like the people I know who have gone for their MBAs make it sounds like conversing over beers and wine is the most important part of their education. Just cause you don't drink doesn't mean you have to be boring...I provide plenty of entertainment while sober.

Hey! I may be in St. Louis, MO (about a 1 hr flight away) on a business trip around then, so there's a chance I may actually make it! Let me know the date and I'll try and work my schedule towards it.

Cheers. L.

I don't drink well either. Should anyone make a poll to find out how many of us can't drink. (btw, where is johnny?)
back to the main one, so we need
1/ A city (Chicago?) and some one who knows the region well enough to guide us?
2/ an exact day to plan and book flights?

Well, there was one by GMATT asking about change in habits after admits,
https://www.gmatclub.com/phpbb/viewtopic ... ight=drink

and one by aau about our poisons of choice:
https://www.gmatclub.com/phpbb/viewtopic ... ght=poison

But I think the exact poll you are looking for has not been created yet.
Johnny! we need ya, man! get in here and start the poll.

Ok guys, we can provide $1000 to spend. I will try to join all of you, but lets agree on a date first.

One condition: In the spirit of a community, any expense must be incurred
collectively.

Do we have 10 members so far?

Have we definitely decided on Chicago? I would love to attend, but my schedule is pretty booked through the end of June. What about the international students who must arrive within 30 days of the start of class? Which school has the earliest start of class? I guess that would be the latest possible date.

OK, Praet, you need to start drinking. Otherwise, how can we call a round of tequila shots "collective spending"?

About the internationals, visas and dates, I think there's dates all over the place. Some get to do the pre-MBA camp/quant camp/analytics course, others don't. Those who do start as early as late June.

Some schools even have mandatory pre-terms starting in July, some schools have orientation week starting in Sept. 4th (meaning no visa until August 4th). I think it's gonna be tight. At least we can try and get the maximum quantity of people, right?

I think that we need to put together a poll to get an idea of how many would be interested and the schools start dates. In Johnny's absence, I'll start that poll.

Cheers. L.

Ok, you got me.

I guess the non-tequila or the like drinking crowd can settle for soda?

If we have 20-30 members, it would be a nice use of the $1000 bucks.

We can always agree to meet in August. The timing and all is upto you guys. All of you will be busy getting fat after having quit your jobs.

For the international folks, maybe get together during sometime before christmas? GMAT Club is feeling generous, so we might be able to spend an equivalent amount then.

GMATcram, August is too late. It's better be some time from middle of June to early July. After that, people will busy with moving and preparing everything. But don't worry, if the meeting going well, we can make it annual event.
Right now we have

Aaudetat
Darren
Praetorian
Lepium
Ozmba2006
Pelihu
rhyme

I list some date options here:
June: Friday 15/ 22 / 29
July: Friday 6 / 13

Now we have seed money (we love you, Praetorian).
We still need a date and a naitive guide.
Let's keep the ball rolling you guys.

I've started 2 polls to count people, choose the city and vote for dates. Once we have an initial idea, we can continue to fine tune.

Links to the polls:

Let's see what happens.

I'm in for either NE or Chitown, although NE prefereable. Although I would travel far and wide for the GMAT Club convention! :-D
