Hello,
I have done a bit of research in google but it seems that I couldn't find anything about GMAT usage of "nor"
Please find two examples from real GMAT questions below:
One report concludes that many schools do not have, nor are they likely to have, enough computers to use them effectively.
Researchers hypothesize that granitic soil is the ideal construction material for the desert tortoise because it is not so hard that it makes burrowing difficult or so soft that it could cause tunnels to collapse.
I wonder whether or and now are interchangeable? Can the word "nor" have a better chance to reduce ambiguity in the second statement?
Off-topic question: how come could is used in a present tense? I thought it should be similar to "will", which the present tense is used for hypothetical mood. e.g. if you tell that joke again, i will punch you.
D-day in 2 days, any help will be much appreciated!

Still if this could be of some help, I will be obliged.
Let's take your questions one by one:
1. 'Or' and 'Nor' are not interchangeable. Moreover if you will read the 2 statements carefully you will observe that why these 2 conjunctions are not interchangeable. In sentence 1 try to put 'or' in place of 'nor' and in sentence 2 try to put 'nor' in place of 'or'. You will notice that the meaning of the 2 sentences will change completely.
In GMAT give a special attention to the meaning of the sentences.
2. Grammar rule states this structure : if present tense, then future tense. Therefore nothing wrong with the example that you have quoted. 'could' can be used in the present tense. 'Can' is also applicable in your above sentence.
