It depends on the program. In the US, most full-time MBA programs will start in the fall. However, there are some different options. For example, Kellogg has a one-year MBA program that starts in July, and Columbia has their J-term that starts in January.

For part-time programs, I believe at a lot of schools you apply to start in a specific term/quarter, so you will have students starting at different times throughout the year.

The actual date will vary from year to year but not by much. Mostly it varies so that the program will start on the same day of the week each year. You should be able to find the school's academic calendar, which shows the exact dates, on their website.

A start in the fall (which is the same thing as autumn) usually occurs in late August or early September (despite the fact that this is still technically summer time in the US/Europe). Most schools start in the fall.

A spring start is usually May or June. A winter start is usually January.

I would assume a college would have just one session starting in a year. Or, can it have more than one sessions too, one starting in Fall, other in winter and so on. Also, do these dates (the date on which the classes start) vary or remain same every year?

Most of the top US full time programs have only one start date in the fall (usually very end of August/very beginning on September). These dates vary little from year to year. I think most of the top European full time programs tend to start a little bit later (mid to late September).

One key thing to note between US and European programs is that most top European programs are only one (calendar) year long, but tend to go straight through. Most US programs are two Calendar years, but you will get three weeks in between your first and second years to do an internship.

When you see programs that have multiple starting dates, (fall, winter, summer) these are generally executive or part time programs.
