What is the difference between online and at the test center? Is it the same test? Are both accepted?

Probably fair to say it would be a bit surprising to hear of a US school that had a problem with either an Online or Test Center score.

Not a bad idea to check the requirements of your intended schools just in case, especially if they are non-US.

Hi all,

I am currently going through the TTP program. I am expecting to finish it in early-mid January, so I was going to take my GMAT around the same time. How far in advance do I need to schedule that appointment?

Thanks for your help!

If you are planning to take the online test then a few days is fine. It is never booked full.

If you are taking at a test center, I would not recommend booking it far in advance, but I would recommend checking in advance, starting about a month out to make sure it’s not getting full for the date and time. Some centers have fairly few slots and administer multiple tests. however, it’s rare for them to be that full most of the time.

The cancellation and change she’s a pretty substantial for dates changes so I would recommend not booking it now or even a month out, unless it’s filling up…

Hi mooz23,

Almost all Schools accept any Official GMAT Score (as long as it's "valid" - meaning from the last 5 years) regardless of whether the Test was taken in a traditional Test Center or through the At-home option. Over the last year, there has been some rare chatter about certain Programs only accepting Scores from Exams taken at Test Centers - but that is easy-enough to research in advance.

As far as how far in advance you might want to schedule your Exam, the further in advance you make your appointment, the greater the possibility that you will be able to take your GMAT at the exact Day and Time of your choosing. Having that Test Date firmly planted in your calendar might help you to better maintain a study schedule and stay focused on hitting your Score Goal. However, this also means that if you choose to reschedule, then you will have to pay a fee (depending on how far in advance of that Test Date you choose to change it).
