Hi gmat1102,

The current 'issues' that many GMATers are facing with the At-home GMAT are not about whether the Scores will be accepted by Schools or not (since GMAC will be treating the results as "Official" and sending out Official Score Reports as scheduled/requested). The real issue is how much more challenging the At-home Exam might be (based on having to use the online notepad - as opposed to the traditional pen-and-pad that you would use at a Test Facility - and some of the technical issues that people have reported with the functionality of the At-home Exam). There's no 'harm' in taking the At-home Exam since it does not count towards your 8-test limit - but if you're not facing an immediate application deadline, then you could potentially save some money and aggravation by waiting to take the GMAT under normal conditions at a Test Center.

Thanks EMPOWERgmatRichC your advice is really helpful.

Since I don't have any immediate application deadlines, I would wait for a month before deciding whether should I be appearing for GMAT Online.

To be honest, I want to appear for the exam before 31st July because then I would have enough time to concentrate on other aspects of the applications.

Hi gmat1102,

While it's understandable that you might want to focus solely on the GMAT at this point, you might find it beneficial to do some work on other aspects of your applications at a time. For example, by writing initial drafts of your application essays and/or putting together a list of people who might write you a glowing Letter-of-recommendation right NOW, you'll have more lead-time to make sure that these areas are the best that they can be by the time you submit your applications (as opposed to possibly having to 'rush' through some of these tasks later on and ending up with results that are less than ideal).

Hi gmat1102,

I don't think you need to be concerned about whether schools will accept that online GMAT. If that was even a possibility the online GMAT likely would not be offered. Also, if you are ready to take your GMAT, there is no reason why you can’t take the online GMAT now and then take the GMAT again, if necessary, once test centers open back up.

Thank You ScottTargetTestPrep for your help.

My pleasure!
