Hi there,
Thanks for posting. Your vast entrepreneurial experience, excellent GMAT and GPA, quantitative skills, and leadership experiences all should position you well for consideration at all top business schools. At this point, since your question is mainly on where to apply, I would spend some time assessing what is important to YOU in a school.... for example:
- match with your career goals: if continuing to focus on entrepreneurship, all of the elite/top schools are great options-- Stanford, HBS, Wharton, MIT. Next tier for entrepreneurship option may be Haas, then Ross. And safety options, could look at McCombs, Babson (Babson often ranked #1 for entrepreneurship, worth investigating, likely scholarship opps there for your level of candidate too).
- LOCATION: this can be big. Not sure where your current business/es are or where you plan to be based after b-school, but location can make a vast difference for many reasons, including the biggest one-- it's easier to get a job or internship, or network, or foster your own company/ies, etc in the city you've been living in during b-school, and secondly, your overall experience of 2 years of your life may vary greatly if you go for a big city vs smaller town and other factors related to geography.
- Student culture: talk to current students & alum, visit schools if you can.... some schools feel more competitive, others more collaborative; what are students into and passionate about? what activities are popular? etc. There's a certain subjective feeling that can make a difference that you may get by visiting and reading blogs and talking to students.
- Class size: something not everyone thinks about, but being one in a class of 850 vs one in a class of 200 is quite a different experience (pros and cons to each).
-Potential classmates: who are they? You do a lot of your learning from others in the class, looking at typical profiles can be interesting (among different schools).
- Employment statistics/hiring profiles/companies that recruit often etc (though may be less relevant if you are continuing as an entrepreneur)
And there are SO many other factors to consider too! For more on choosing schools, check out our free download at:
