PM role in what IT , mfg, anyother sector?

MBA can assist in switching roles and sector you want to work in future.

With MS you can get into PM role but will then have to continue in same sector..

Hi Everyone

I've got 7 years of work experience as a Business Analyst where I worked with various Product teams in organizations like Deloitte, etc.

I've been fascinated by the Product Manager role and i now have a clear idea that I want to take up Product Manager as my role going forward.

At the same time, I want to move to the US and take up a PM job there.

The best options I see are MBA and MS. I want to do 1 year Masters (STEM designated).

MBA is out of scope for me. I prefer to keep my expenses between $30k - $65k (including expenses). So I think I am only left with MS.

Can you please suggest to me the relevant MS options which have good rankings (which would land me a Product Manager job)

My Key points:
My experience: 7 years as BA
Course duration: Max 1 year
STEM Designation needed
Budget: $35k - $65k (including personal expenses)

Thanks in advance

Hey rohitrbk1993,

I must say that you have a solid profile, as there are 7 years of credible work experience as a business analyst. In fact, your profile is backed up by major brands like Deloitte, plus you’ve been a part of product teams, which adds brownie points.

Provided that you have an engineering background, you can definitely consider going for a Master’s in Engineering Management, as that's something that will definitely work, but only if you don’t really intend to go for an MBA. Your work experience resonates with STEM and MS-designated programs, so you can consider them as well.

But I will suggest you target a Master’s in Engineering Management, as it aligns with your goal for product management roles. You can also aim for project management roles.

If you need more help, we'd be happy to setup a call and give more pointers on how to improve your profile and the right schools you should target.
