(1) even^2= even
thus n^2 + 3=odd
& n^2 + 4=even
sufficient
(2) –2n – 4 is even
case 1 ..if n is odd then –2n – 4 is even
case 2 ...if n is even then –2n – 4 is even
thus n can be even or odd
Case I when n is odd
n^2 + 3 = even
n^2 + 4 = odd
Case II when n is even
n^2 + 3 = odd
n^2 + 4 = even
thus insufficient

Analyzing the question: Better question to ask is whether n is odd or even. Once we know that, we can determine which expression above is odd.
Statement 1:
Sufficient.
Statement 2:
-2n - 4 is even means -2n is even. -2n is always even regardless of n so we cannot tell if n is odd or even, insufficient.
Answer: A
