Well,  Gyna , it is a deep question. I think Focus is better in some ways though I am not super thrilled with the scoring on some of the sections becuase the test is shorter.

However, if you are asking to pick which test to take, I am going to make your life very easy - GMAT Focus is the only available test you can take since Feb 1, 2024, so you will have to take GMAT Focus version (which GMAC has rebranded into just plain "GMAT" now that there is only one version.). So the current GMAT is what was known as GMAT Focus and the only available format. So no choice there.

PS. You do have a choice in how you take the test - you can take it online or at the test center.

GMAT Focus is now the only version of the GMAT available as of February, 2024. The classic GMAT is no longer an option. The Focus Edition is shorter, has a revised scoring system, and places greater emphasis on data insights while removing Sentence Correction. If you’re preparing for the test now, GMAT Focus is your only choice, so it's best to focus your efforts on understanding its format and adapting your study plan accordingly. Doesn't matter, since only the GMAT Focus is offered now. GMAT vs GRE, however, is a question you could think about.

As has been said, since GMAT focus (now called GMAT again) is the only exam offered, just focus on that. There is no sense in focusing on things you cannot control.

In what context are you asking? As everybody on the thread pointed out, GMAT focus in the new GMAT regular now. Though the timing, sections and scoring has changed, the syllabus hasn't changed a lot apart from SC, geometry and a few other quant topics being removed.
