You actually have a good profile. Your GPA and GMAT are solid and will keep you in the mix.

When you say you only have one internship and a competition on your CV, is that all you have as far as non-academic achievements are concerned? Were/are you involved in any extracurricular activities or demonstrated any sort of community leadership? What about interesting life experiences? Without any of that, it might be tough to get into top schools. Internships are great but by no means required, so I'm less concerned about your perceived lack thereof.

Thank you for the answer.
The first thing that comes to my mind is the fact that this monday I will begin a 1-month long volunteering experience in Tanzania.

Also, the competition I won was a team-based one, and altough I wasn't the leader, I was the oldest member outside him and we were basically deciding the strategy to follow. Furthermore after the win a part of us (me included) received an internship proposal regarding the development of an underwater drone (as the Nasa challenge consisted in developing a space drone). I also have a Github profile with some of my coding projects but as you can understand many of these activities are more engineering related, rather than finance/economics. But maybe they are a good way to show my quant skills.

Anyway, from what I understand now I should focus on the motivation letter and CV.

Those are all valuable experiences you should include in your CV and application, where appropriate.

Yes, your essay/personal statement is very important. That is your golden opportunity to "brand" yourself and your story and explain why an Masters in Finance is an appropriate next step for you.

The key for you (and many others) is to eloquently articulate the above. If you think my team can be of professional help, don't hesitate to reach out for a free consultation or book time directly with one of our graduate degree advisors.

Hi everyone,

I'm a 21-yo Italian undergrad student, I'm looking for starting a MSc Finance next year (starting September 2022), I'm trying to figure out into which universities I am most likely to be accepted.

Yesterday I took my first GMAT and I got a 710(Q47, V41).
I think my GPA can be considered a 3.87/4.0 even though I know it's inaccurate to convert italian grades like that (my actual GPA is 29.10/30.00).
The problem in my opinion is the CV, as I did only 1 summer internship this summer in a small Swiss bank. If it can be worth anything four years ago I won an international coding competition organized by MIT and NASA.

My dream universities are LSE and Imperial college, but a more likely possibility is probably Bocconi.
What do you think about my profile? Do I have possibilites at LSE or Imperial College?

Hello mscc,

Hope this finds you well.

Considering your first GMAT attempt yielded a 710, we do think you could take it up. An improved score would definitely help add a 'spike factor' to your overall application.

However, that aside, you have a fair share of experiences that can prove to be fine talking points in your application. A lot depends on how well you connect the dots in your story and how you present your career goals (unfortunately details pertaining to the same are not present here).

With the above in place, we see a good chance of you making it into your dream schools. :-)

Should you wish to discuss this in greater detail, please feel free to reach out to us for a free profile evaluation.

All the best!
