Some fractions, squares and square roots I suggest you to memorize like 2 to the power of 1 to 2 to the power of 10. And there are many others as the square roots that I mention in the question. GMAT is speed and the speed comes with pattern and memorization.

Positive powers of positive numbers less than 1 results in smaller values, whereas squareroot results in bigger number. Considering B, eliminating C, D and E
Squaring A and B, for A we get \(0.5^2\) = 0.25 and B we get 0.2, A is greatest
