Solution

To find:
• Which option lists fractions in ascending order

Approach and Working:
• $$\frac{9}{26}$$

• $$\frac{1}{4} = \frac{9}{4*9} = \frac{9}{36}$$

• $$\frac{3}{10} = \frac{3*3}{10*3} = \frac{9}{30}$$

Thus, $$\frac{9}{26} > \frac{9}{30} > \frac{9}{36}$$
• Therefore, ascending order of these numbers will be $$\frac{1}{4}, \frac{3}{10}, \frac{9}{26}$$

Hence, the correct answer is Option D

D. 1/4, 3/10, 9/26

E. 3/10, 9/26, 1/4

9/26
multiply nr & dr by same integer to get nr as 9 in 1/4 ad 3/10
9/26, 9/36 , 9/30

so 9/26>9/30>9/36
or say 1/4<3/10< 9/26

C. 1/4, 9/26, 3/10

D. 1/4, 3/10, 9/26

E. 3/10, 9/26, 1/4

First we can see that 1/4, or 0.25, is less than 3/10, or 0.3, so we can eliminate answer choices B and E.

Now we need to determine which is greater, 3/10 or 9/26. Getting common numerators,we have:

3/10 = 9/30

We compare 9/30 to 9/26. The one with the smaller denominator has the greater value. So we see that 9/26 is greater than 3/10.
