Last Saturday, I was back in London, one of my favorite cities, for an MBA Tour event. If you are applying in the next 12 months and you haven't started attending MBA events, you are missing out, by the way.
At the London event I was reminded how very often the questions MBA candidates ask at the beginning of their MBA journey are the same ones they have at the end.
What are schools looking for? What is most important to them?
I was asked these questions by those who are only now starting their research and those who were preparing for their MBA Admissions interviews (yes, the smart MBA candidates continue to engage with their dream schools and show up for events even AFTER they have submitted their application).
It’s no wonder one of the most popular web searches of MBA candidates is “weight of the MBA application components”.
So whether you are at the very beginning of your MBA application journey and you want to know how important the GMAT or GRE is or if you are at the final stretch, wondering how critical the MBA Admissions interview is, I have the data - coming straight from the MBA programs themselves - and the analyses that will help you understand how to use the data.

Great question, bb! The notion here is that professional and personal achievements as well as leadership and clarity of career goals are all woven into the various parts of the MBA application. They will be present in the resume, the transcripts, the essays, the interviews. Collectively, these pieces of the MBA application will paint a picture of the candidate.
The most important message that this survey demonstrates - and something that I know very well from my work in MBA admissions for so many years - is that MBA admissions is indeed holistic. Every single part of the application and what it seeks to glean matters.
