I took two classes at Centenary University (an online mba program with no gmat requirement) and got a B and a B-. However, the school had a minimum gpa requirement of 3.0 to be eligible for financial aid and i had a 2.84 so i had to withdraw. I am looking for a gmat program that will require a 2.0. But, i only have 3 months experience as a supervisor and i am not currently working. My gpa was a 3.47 before i received 5 f's at a community college after getting my bachelors. I decided not to attend and forgot to notify them so I failed all 5 classes due to attendance. I am only eligible for financail aid at the college for 6 more credits, but i may try to take those courses again to boost my gpa if necessary even though i have no interest in pursuing that field anymore. I may take paralegal courses at a community college before returning to business school since ive heard that an associates in paralegal studies with a bachelors of any kind is competitive for employment. I have a bachelors in accounting with a 3.62 at my degree granting institution, but i cant even find work as a bookkeeper since i have no experience and experience is required to be eligible for the cpa exam. I studied for 3 weeks for the gmat and saw no improvement in scores and the book i was studying, which i read half way through, didnt appear to be covering the math problems on the exam which i have no familiarity with. I scored a 152 on the lsat and was prepping at 156, but i dont believe ill ever be able to go back to law school since i withdrew before receiving grades 3 times, one of which i was dismissed for an error that was discovered on my application. I was scoring in the 20th percentile on the gmat that i found online even after reading half a gmat prep book.
Do i have any chance of improving my gmat enough to get into a program that will be more lenient with gpa requirements? Should i try the GRE instead? What is a good prep book for the gmat or gre? Are there any online programs that dont require the gmat that permit a 2.0gpa for good academic standing?

Hi. Something to bring up that you are not asking is that MBA does not guarantee a job and if you are having an issuing finding employment at this time, when economy is doing at its best, it is possible, job search issues will continue after an online MBA graduation, esp one that does not have much of a requirement in terms of GPA or GMAT.
My suggestion for you would be to figure out a job or setting you would like to pursue and focus on it in January - big hiring season for many companies starts in Jan and goes on through March.

I have found that having an mba on your resume is beneficial. When i had the mba from centenary on my resume i landed a temp job as a test scorer after one week of looking and a job as a shift supervisor after two weeks of looking. I completed the temporary position, but i quite the supervisor position because i was given no opportunity to learn the full job and spent most of my time at the register. I was also offered a job as a life insurance salesmen that was 100% commission that i rejected, but looked interesting.
Previously i only had one good job offer in 2 years, which was a position in a safe, but i failed the background check. I think having an mba of any kind will be beneficial and i haven't given up on the gmat/gre yet either since i only studied for 3 weeks
