I am preparing for GMAT and suddenly this question arises ... which B-Schools are worthy enough to spend so much money on an MBA ? I mean an MBA degree from which of the schools gives your MBA and your resume an elite status which sets you apart , helps ur career in the long run and of course gets you a good paycheque ?
Any thoughts ?

from a recruiting standpoint you will see more top companies at top schools and that in some way affects your job/salary etc. But that is out of your control to some degree. I is almost no brainer lots of people want the top 5 schools but can they get in? Do they have the gmat scores, gpa, we, rec etc? People do apply within their range so someone with 600/3.0 is probably not gonna shoot the moon with b schools but that person could still get a great education and find a great job.

I do agree with you on that shaselai ... but my concern was , I have a decent WE ( 5 yrs in IT ) , have good % ( 78 in Engineering ) , good EC's and had very good progressions in my career in an MNC. So if I have to quit my job, invest a lot in MBA and then come back to the same position and salary , it doesn't do me any good.
Hence I wanted some advice from the GMAT club veterans or alumni from the b-schools who are members of this forum to help me choose the b-schools I should be targeting so that my efforts and investment will not be futile.
