Hello club members,
I am looking for advice on which schools should I apply to in this round based on my profile. Since I'm new to this process, a candid feedback is appreciated too. Here is how my profile looks:
GMAT: 710 (Q49, V38, I8); Perhaps my weakest point and I won't mind retaking it if additional 20-30 points can create a significant value addition.
Age: 25
Work Experience: 4 years
Background: Indian Male Engineer; Another weak area because of high over-representation
Academics: I hail from the best engineering college in my country, and stood among top 10 percentile in my class. I have also published two academic journals and secured multiple academic awards throughout undergrad and school days. Overall, academics is one of my strongest area and the reason to dream for the top colleges.
Work Profile: Currently Fintech Product Manager, previously worked in Marketing and Research teams
Professional Experience: I have worked in two mid-tier global brands (Gartner & Mahindra Comviva). Though the firms have significant recognition in industry, they are certainly not household names. Throughout my work period, I have been one of the top performers and have always tried new things which have been significant to the company. I have got some really interesting projects to talk about which have added great value to the company both internally and externally. I am currently working as Product Manager of World's largest mobile money platform which is greatly helping drive the financial inclusion initiative in Africa and across other regions.
International Experience: Just for leisure currently, but I'm hoping to have some significant international experience by next year
Leadership: Right from the college days, I have help multiple positions of responsibilities and even in my working days I have been mentor to multiple new joinees and interns.
Extra Currics: I am an avid writer and one of my stories is about to be published. Being a movie lover, I manage a community of 4000+ Bollywood lovers and trying to scale it up into a profitable business (not confident about the timelines of that though). I love learning all the time and always have courses on Coursera to help me with my free-time (I have over 15 such course certificates to date). Further, I also established a Book Lover's club within my office people during the COVID days. Finally, the rest of my time is currently going in learning Spanish (no particular reason for that though, just because it is fourth most spoken and I already know two of the rest). Overall, I have heard positive reviews about my ECs but thought its better to check here too.
Recommenders: Among my recommenders, its difficult to get people from top B schools. However, I can get recommendation from most of my senior leadership including the CEO or the COO (COO knows me quite well personally). Further, other recommenders can be from my previous company (Gartner analysts are reputed within the industry), or from my undergrad college.
Writing Skills: As mentioned previously, I find joy in writing. However, I'm not sure about the structure and content of the applications. But with some guidance, I believe I can do fairly well here.
Aspirations: To be honest, I am loving my job currently. But there are few things in my industry which I believe can be improved by a great deal. I can only reach at a position to make such impact after many years, and hence MBA will firstly help me in reducing that time period significantly. Second, I am also looking to do MBA in order to know about the unknowns. I feel there is much more to learn and during work-ex, that will take its own time to come. Third, having been surrounded by people with similar backgrounds, I believe a diverse environment such as during MBA will be a great learning opportunity to know about different perspectives of looking at the same thing.
As mentioned previously, I am new to this process and hence no chance of re-application.
