Hello,
I am applying to PhD program in business this winter. In online application, I need to report score from one exam and I was quite confused to find the best score for my several attempts.
So the scores are...
Total: 740 (v41: 94% / q50: 87% / ir: 4: 40%)
Total: 730 (v37: 83% / q51: 97% / ir: 8: 92%)
I think the first one is better for verbal and quant, because the overall score is higher and also balanced (since i am applying to phd program, one advised that getting higher than 85% for each section is important)
However, one problem is the low score of IR section... I am afraid 40% will give bad impact for the first impression of my application.
Which one should I report on my online application? - I understand that two score will be both available in the gmat score report.
Any comments will be very much appreciated.. Thanks!

It's always best to contact the school directly! Im sure they will respond. Also, while in the additional space given to you to write a few words that you couldnt fit into a personal statement, you can mention your other score there as well.

First off, BOTH of your scores are outstanding scores (they're both well above the 90th percentile overall), so you can comfortably apply to any Schools that you like with either score. By their nature, PhD Programs tend to involve a highly competitive application process, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans.
