Hi All,
I took the GMAT online twice and achieved the following scores:
Test 1: 700; Q43, V42, IR6, AWA6
Test 2: 730; Q42, V48, IR3, AWA6
Unfortunately, I performed horribly in the IR section of my second test (I got stuck with 4 questions in a row related to a 3-tab question that I simply could not understand). Does this make the second score a throw away? Should I submit both scores to show that the second IR score was a fluke? I most likely do not have time to take the test again.
I know my verbal score is well above average, but unfortunately I struggle with the quant section. For reference, I am American and my top school choice is INSEAD (avg. 710). I am applying to a couple other top European programs as well.

Hi jf006,
First off, a 730/Q42 is an outstanding Overall Score, so you can comfortably apply to any Schools that interest you. The potential 'issue' with this result is not your IR Score though (as many Schools have stated that they do not use the IR Score as part of the overall application analysis; the lower Quant Scaled Score is potentially an issue as neither the Q42 nor the Q43 will 'impress' anyone - and those types of results are sometimes seen as 'red flags' at certain Programs (especially Finance-based Programs). You're ultimately asking Admissions questions though, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

1) When are you planning to apply to School - and if it's sometime soon, then what specific application deadlines are you facing?

I dont think that you should worry much about IR score.. apply with your best overall score and put forward your best application..
