any advice on what story to tell? first, i am of the mind that the only thing that matters is getting into school. have a 3.9 GPA from an upper mid tier school, and a 730 GMAT, and am only interested in a top school
I have worked in finance where i helped start a new group, and ran another small group, but most of my experience is as a sales trader. i don't think the sales trader part sells very well.
in my private life i have experience on the ground in central america managing a project building schools, a MA degree in International Relations, and founded a non profit focused on building schools in 3rd world countries.
disregarding my post MBA plans, my gut tells me that the story focusing on my non profit story sells better than my finance story. a sales trading background looks weak vs an I Banker, while at the same time, some one w/ non profit experience as well as finance experience may look strong vs others w/ non profit experience.
any opinions there? i realize the non profit route comes across as a career change, but i feel it may be easier to pull off going from finance to full time non profit than the reverse.
