An example is "Paul's ID center, which is called SUNNY, has been successful so far." Here that is unnecessary: the which does not tell us which of Paul's many ID centers we're considering; it simply provides an extra piece of information about the plan we're already discussing. "Paul's ID Center" tells us all we really need to know to identify it.

Madonna, who is a singer, is Tony's favourite.

>> Here you can omit "who is a singer" part as the meaning won't change. You already know that Madonna is a singer and it is just an extra imformation.

The man that is wearing a black suit is my father.

>>Here "that is wearing a black suit " cannot be omited. You need this information to identify the man.

So, you should identify if you need the relative clause information or not!!

i guess ur explanation is good but the example should be

The man who(not that) is wearing a black suit is my father

that is used for "things" or collective nouns that are anonymous..
