Which way would you rather have it?

Question

Some schools release their decisions on an ongoing basis while other schools notify all applicants about the decision on the same day. Which one do you prefer?

I voted ongoing...It gives you hope but probably ups the stress level. Much like interviews if you get one at the start of the cycle you feel amazing but the closer it gets to the deadline the more stressful it will get. Then again even with a hard deadline you still will be paranoid the closer it gets. 

All I care about though is getting an acceptance from someone.

I would think that the FIFO model (first in, first out) method would be the best, and although this is implied when applying, I've rarely seen it used. I know of people who sent in their apps sooo early but then recieved word sooo late.

Basically, if you are one of the first to submit, you should also be one of the first to hear how you did - either a ding, an admit or even a deferred. as long as you don't wait 2 months biting your nails to heard about a ding.....

Schools should also have a set 'turn-around' time for applications. IE, when an application is submitted, it should be looked at/evaluated within the 1st week of submission in order to meet "general" requirements, and then the 2nd week should be more of this but the end of the 2nd week should bring word to the applicant - ding, admit, deferred.

I think they should just let you know when they made up their mind. If you are accepted, dinged, waitlisted...whatever just tell us as soon as your mind is made up.

coming to the choice, I wouldn't mind how it arrives as long as it is an ADMIT..

wish I had completed all schools in R1, its hard to focus on R2 ...

I will go with the 2nd choice - All admits should come on the same day as it normally is the case. Need not worry about it till the D-day.

LBS - last day
Wharton - ongoing
Columbia - ongoing

Kellogg lets applicants know on an ongoing basis

Stanford - last day
Berkeley - last day
UCLA - ongoing
Kellogg - ongoing

I voted for same day with the condition that schools contact you to let you know your application is complete a few weeks after the submit deadline. I don't mind waiting after that.
