Which Prep Course for my goal?

Hello everyone,

First of all, this website rocks and must help countless people ! thank you people.

I am planning to apply to a Master of Science in September next year (2013) to a B-school with an average integrated students GMAT of 640.

I am using the 7-days trial of MasterGMAT which allows me to discover the beast.

I am wondering whether I should go for KAPLAN ON DEMAND COURSES (about 350), or for the MGMAT SEFL STUDIED PREP PLUS (about 800) . The review on KAPLAN Prep Courses are a bit outdated as most comments dated from 2005-2007.

I also plan to buy the 7 books of MGMAT and the OG 2012.  No need for more books at this level, right?

I am planning to take the GMAT just before it changes,  do you know how long before should I register approximately?

It gives me 3 months (while studying) and May full time GMAT study.

If you buy all those MGMAT books and the OG, you should definitely be able to reach your goal without signing up for any courses or doing anything extra. You need to be disciplined and stick to a schedule in order to ensure your success, however, so if you don't think you can do that by yourself, then maybe you should look for other materials.

The GMAT is changing on June 5th, so you should sign up before then (and in advance as there will be a glut). I would recommend signing up at least 2 months in advance to be safe.

The MGMAT course comes with the MGMAT books, so if you take that one, no need to buy the books.
I feel the On-demand course with MGMAT is not the best value - you may as well sign up for an online course and take it live. Many people tend to be more engaged when they take a class/course live. You can get it for about $200 more with GMAT Club's MGMAT discount.

What about Knewton?

I tried both Kaplan and MGMT and took the test after completing each course but I couldn't quite break 700.

Then I used Knewton for 2 months and scored a 760. I thought its program was far superior to the other two. I wish I would have started with it.

Plus they offer a 50 pt guarantee.
