Cycle14
Sounds like a pretty good proposition to me. Ultimately you have to be true to yourself in your applications and essays - personally speaking I think this sounds like a great goal. It's focused, it shows direct thought and applicability of business school learnings and is aspirational. I'd say absolutely stick with it, and think as big as you can about how you might really leverage business school connections and learnings. Having a well articulated stretch goal can be a powerful thing.
Thanks for your reply
Cycle14, it was very encouraging. A little more about myself I have also passed CFA Level 2. I haven't been able to set any time aside for Level 3 but I fully intend to complete it. Although I think starting my own company shows initiative and leadership but as I mentioned in my first post too that its a small company so I'm not sure how important is size to the admission committee. I feel I do need experience of a big AMC and then bring those best practices back to my home country. There is a lot of growth potential in Asia for asset management.
So you think my story .... Undergrads + CFA + some experience with a Fortunes 500 bank ---> starting my own small equity research firm ---> MBA ---> working for a major asset management firm ---> and coming back to starting my own asset management business either within the current firm or starting a new firm ... sounds realistic and will not freak out the adcom?
Thanks again.
