Why Choose the Kellogg Miami-Campus EMBA (Instead of Evanston) Maybe you’ve done research and you have already decided that the Kellogg EMBA sounds perfect for you. You know that Kellogg is one of the best EMBA programs in the world, that it boasts a global network of campuses and esteemed alumni, and that its management curriculum will set you up for the upward career trajectory you are seeking. The last thing you need to decide – should you choose the home campus of Evanston, Illinois, or the new campus in Miami, Florida?
The new Kellogg Miami campus is located just outside the city in Coral Gables. Kellogg chose to establish a location in Miami largely due to the fact that Miami serves as a link between the United States and Latin America. The draw of corporate businesses and satellite companies to Miami is huge. And the fact that the Miami campus offers the exact same curriculum, faculty and opportunities to Kellogg students as the Evanston campus does has created a strong draw for many Kellogg candidates.
When candidates choose to study at the Kellogg Miami campus, classes are held once a month, beginning Thursday afternoon and ending late Sunday morning; whereas classes at the Evanston campus are held twice a month. Classes take place in the brand new, state-of-the-art James L. Allen Center, which was modeled after the Kellogg Evanston campus’ executive education center. During this time, Kellogg EMBA students stay at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables and quickly form bonds and tightly knit study groups. Although the same strong Kellogg values and curriculum define the Kellogg culture at both campuses, the distinctive personalities at the two vibrant locations of Chicago and Miami could not be more different.
Can’t decide between Evanston and Miami (or any of the other five campuses that Kellogg has partnered with globally)? You may not have to! While you do have to pick what your home campus will be on your application, all students are eligible to travel within the Kellogg Global Network for elective courses. At the Miami campus, notable elective courses include: “Family Enterprises: Success and Continuity”, intended for students of family-owned businesses; “Retail Analytics: Pricing and Promotion” for students interested in learning price perception and optimization; “Strategic Challenges in Emerging Markets”, researching the effects of globalization on emerging markets; and “International Finance”, among others.
