I swear...every time I go through the quantitative question bank and get something wrong, I oftentimes end up feeling even more confused just for having read their explanation.
Magoosh has been great at explaning things...even the little bit of TTP that I've used does it better. The official guide is just something else though.

Hello,
jack022. No, you are not alone in harboring such feelings about the official explanations. In
this thread from the beginning of last month, I expressed a similar sentiment (even if I used Verbal questions as examples further down, in a follow-up post):

There is one drawback to reviewing OG questions, though: the explanations in the book are terrible
To be sure, the Quant solutions are not flawed, but, like you, I often find them lacking. Flexibility and creative thinking are signs of mathematical and logical ability, and too frequently, the OG seems to follow a
single way solution. I would advise looking up any questions you need help understanding on this forum. Explanations by
Bunuel,
chetan2u,
VeritasKarishma,
BrentGMATPrepNow, and others are top-notch, and you will likely find something on the page that resonates with your way of learning the material. That is the goal, after all. (The GMAT™ does not care how you arrive at an answer.)
Good luck with your studies.
