I'm confused. I finished all the quant in the OG without breaking a sweat even under times conditions. (average 1:30 per problem) I do 2 Kaplan tests on the CD and stunk. 570 and 580.

What do I need to take my quant scores to the next level? I looked at the Kaplan explanations, they're mostly "picking numbers". Is this really what works for all you 50+ Quant scorers?

I'm open to suggestions and trying to stay motivated....

Don't worry about your Kaplan scores - they are well-known for WAY underestimating your real score on the GMAT, by up to 100 points even. Ignore the test scores on Kaplan tests altogether. Use the test scores from Powerprep and Princeton Review to get a feel for how you're really doing. Seriously. Otherwise you'll continue to freak yourself out!

True,

I just keep reading testimonies from people with high 600s in Kaplan. Just trying establish what I have to work on to get to that level. More and more people are saying that the GMAT quant is getting harder as time goes by. I've also read comments that the REAL GMAT quant is of similar difficulty to the Kaplan. I was feeling pretty confident finishing the OG, but I think I have the Kaplan Blues.

Any suggestions out there to get to a level to ace Kaplan Quant?

Please tell me something else is out there besides "number picking"

I personally couldn't tell you. I would just keep doing as many practice questions as you can, train your brain to get used to the harder ones. There's a lot of stuff posted on the Yahoo GMAT Tutor group, lots of quant practice questions. Try that. https://groups.yahoo.com/group/gmattutor/
