Bizare PowerPrep Score - Please help

Question

Today after 2 months preparation, I tool PowerPrep (old official GMAT s/w).
I waned to keep GMATPrep for later stages of my preparation, so decided to take PowerPrep available at GMATCLUB.

I did not performed well, but not as bad as the score shows.

Quant - 10 wrong
Verbal - 14 wrong

Score is drastically low 570 (Q44,V24).
I dont understand the verbal score. Compared to Quant, Verbal has 4 more wrong but the score is 20 less.

While other have reported 700 score with exactly same number of wrongs on GMAT Prep s/w. How can there is such huge difference.

Cant comprehend my result. ....
It seems PowerPrep tests are not Adaptive nor have scoring algorithm in place.
Please suggest that is Power Prep good exam to check the preparation level.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think you are taking that number of correct answers decide what will be your GMAT score. Actually, NO. The quality (hardness) of questions decides what will be your score+percentile. However, PowerPrep is pretty outdated and its algorithm may not be comparable to the one that GMATPrep now has.

Well I understand the score depends on the difficulty level. ..

But my concern is the verbal Score. The diff level was quite good.
While someone gets 35 score with 14 wrongs, while same wrongs gives a score of 24.

Then surely the position of wrongs question in set of 41 matter much more then I can imagine.

Well I analyzed my wrong question sequence...
And found that :
4 Ans in first 10 question.
5 Ans together in the end 
could not reach last 2 questions.

This has hurt my score, but I am sure the diff level was not getting less. It kept giving high and mid level questions.

You lose 3 percentile points for each question you do not reach

Also, you have a number that are wrong in a row such as 34, 36, 37, 38, 39... and then your score was knocked down by 6 more percentiles. That's the most likely reason (though you have to remember there are experimental questions and some of the right/wrong are not counted towards the final score)

Sorry man, just need to learn from this and make a lesson:
- answer every question (even if wrong). This is a newbie mistake (which you should not have made)!
- try not to spend too much time on any single question
- though answering questions correctly helps with the score, answering hard questions correctly, helps the most.

Thank you for your effort to explain stuff that has been written about numerous times. But hard to assimilate. 
But you learn more from your own mistakes then others mistakes.

I wasted lots of time on RC and did just ok with them. Got 3 question wrong out of 4 passages.
But then I had to rush with all SC question and for last 10 questions I had 5-6 mins left.

In Quant I got 7 DS wrong out of 10 wrong ans. Need to work on it.

These seem to be classic newbie problems.

The good news is that several improvements are super easy - e.g. answering every question. You probably would have had V27 or so had you answered the last 2 questions with a guess answer.

The rest, probably will take a bit more time but you have clear weaknesses, which is a good thing!

Feels good after getting an idea of how to improve the score with current level of preparations. Then I will assume V27, even without taking next Test.

That make a score of 590 with Q44. I hope will be able to bridge the gap of 110 points. Need atleast 700+ But jokes apart, this is critical information. Thanks again..
