I was going through OG and I created one question similar to it , I want to know whether below question is valid or not ?

data insufficiency question:

whether x^{-3} < 1 ?
1) x^2 = 4
2) x^3 = 8

Hello,

I don't see a reason why a question like above won't be valid on GMAT. What made you think so ?

because with first statement you get you values and for both value ans is Yes (2 values --> 2, -2)
second statement give only one value 2 and still Yes
I was told you should get the ans same and even values are same if you try to solve a question in DS
so does -2 have any impact on the question?
