Williams has x eggs. He sells 12 of them at a profit of 10 percent and [#permalink]
Can you please help me to solve the equation.

equate
12*1.1= (x-12)*.9
By this I am not getting the answer. x=24

it would be 12*1.1+ (x-12)*.9=x
solve for x ; 24

Williams has x eggs. He sells 12 of them at a profit of 10 percent and the rest of the eggs at a loss of 10 percent. He made neither a profit nor a loss overall. Which one of the following equals x?

(A) 10
(B) 12
(C) 13
(D) 14
(E) 24

-10________________________+10

_______________0_______

10__________________________10

ie, 1:1

Now , 1 represents 12 so, total no of eggs will be 2*12 = 24, Answer must be (E)
