Work experience

Question

I have 3 years work experience in Telecom domain with Market Research and Analyst role. I have also worked as content writer for some news papers, magazines and websites and hosted my TV show on Astrology domain(worked as domain expert) for 4 months. 
other than that arranged several camps for students, employees to give them free consultation and helped NGOs also.

Can I add my writing experience to my corporate experience? and I don't have very strong acedemic record(above average) so, can my works in different fields fill that gap?

one more thing I want to ask, As I mentioned I have just average or above average academic record with 75% marks in B.Tech but I have published one Research Journal in International Journal/magazine. Is it enough to fill that gap.

Content Writing is a real job, so why not add it? And it's great that you published something and you should totally write it also, but I don't know that it covers up for academic experience that is under par. Getting a higher GMAT would be FAR more effective.

Actually one person told me that the work one does during education or main employment cannot be added in work exp. 
thats why I am concerned about my writing exp.

Please mention about what your skills, headship qualities & professional achievements. Your low/avg. GMAT, GPA and acads can surely be make up by positioning well in your application essays & working hard on interviews.

I think you absolutely can. It shows another side of you to the adcom, especially if you had a leadership position, or can show strengths etc. Try brainstorming ideas for essays. If you're applying to HBS, then maybe you can talk about wanting to be involved in a leadership position with The Harbus etc. Just a thought. Good luck
