I am from India, aged 24, and scored 710 on my exam. I have graduated as an engineer in 2019 and was aiming for admission in 2022, which will give me work experience of 3 years. I have missed R1 deadlines due to illness. I am also considering 2023 admission so that I can improve my profile and score and then aim for even better schools. I prefer 2022 admission, which would allow me to have an extra year in my hand but if there are any major disadvantages/advantages then would consider 2023.
My doubts:
Is there any disadvantage in regards to securing a job with only work ex of 3 years as opposed to more?
Is there any disadvantage to securing school?
How would my age play into the culture of the B-schools?

PS: I am planning the reattempt in November and am working on the application on the side. So if the score improves it can be used in R2.

My main doubts revolve around work ex. as seen above.

I have only one advice to give - Don't Procrastinate
Your age and work ex are perfectly acceptable and in fact, it is in your best interest to proceed as soon as possible and give it your best shot this year itself.
Rest, our experts can guide you based on the details of your profile.

Responding here:

Q: Admissionado my doubt about advantages/disadvantages was in specific terms like, is there any filter in various companies, in the USA, regarding work ex prior to MBA or is it a major factor in base salary negotiation.

A: One year in work experience is very unlikely to have any impact in salary negotiations.

Q: regarding school, I meant that with almost an identical profile and the only difference being work-ex, do I increase my chances of landing in a better school? Obviously, I do not intend to keep my profile the same.

A: If somehow you have "an almost identical profile," then the extra year would not matter. Since you do not intend to keep your profile the same, you shouldn't even think about this question as it wouldn't be relevant!

Hope that helps,
Admissionado
