Hi all,

My work laptop has passed the GMAT Test Run. Should I use it for the exam? Will it pose any issues even after passing the System Run and successful mock test launch?

FYI, I can login to any site when my VPN is disconnected.

Will there be any chances of anything not working in case I use this laptop for the online GMAT?

Please advise.

Hey Aratrika25, I wouldn't suggest you to use the work laptop. Your work laptop generally won't raise any alarm in the initial system check. People have faced problem where in they had to switch the firewall off at the start of the exam but since our work laptop's admin panel is inaccessible to us you cannot do that

So i would suggest you to take it from your personal laptop

Okay logro. Thank you.

I am facing another issue at the moment. Not able to open mba.com from my wifi. Was able to login a few hours back.

MBA.com is opening when I am using my mobile hotspot, but not from wifi. What issue can it be??? Has anyone experienced this ??

Please comment.

Hi Aratrika25,

I agree that it may be risky to use a work laptop. If at all possible I’d borrow a computer from somebody or at least have a backup in case something goes wrong with your work computer.

This is the pre-enhanced Gmat online discussion. Several people mentioned that they did run into issues using a work laptop with than you GMAT online that started in April/May 2021.

The main issues were some of the processes running in the background. Your work laptop may be set up differently. Did you run a test and pass it?

I Just ran a system check - unable to install the ESecure Browser. Spoke to someone from Examity, they mentioned that work laptops are not allowed and In case I want to use my work laptop I have to ask my IT Team to disable the firewalls

LOL. They don’t know who owns the laptop so they can’t really say a work laptop is not allowed. What they meant to say is that their system doesn’t work on a secure computer…. At the same time, I also found that their system has hiccups with some versions of windows but perhaps that was my bad technical skills and windows home set up

Hello people,

If you wish to use a proctoring system such as Examity, please refrain from using your professional laptops.

I have worked with Examity as well as other companies offering similar services. Most of our support tickets originated from users who were using professional laptops. Problem can be your VPN, ability to install, firewalls, your browser's version... All these elements make it hard for any support person to troubleshoot your issue.

Save yourself the hassle, unless your IT department is particularly friendly, and get your hands on a "private" machine :)
