we now return you to your regular programming... ;)

So Praet, will you be setting this up soon? We should get rhyme and others to post theirs (anonymously, maybe just with school applied to and admitted or not - like Montauk).

rhyme mentioned that he was going to post his if Chicago lets him, but I haven't found it anywhere yet... anyone know if there are sample essays floating around here?

Yeah, I'd prefer invites to be handled by CEOs rather than mods. Our lazy mod asses won't always try to ensure that a requester is a contributor. Sometimes we would end up allowing a person just to be nice to him. Praet, on the other hand, is a rude freak. So he won't mind saying "No" to people who haven't contributed enough.

Er, thanks for the vote of confidence. Be nice and no one gets hurt.

Like most forums, we are built on the idea of community and sharing. It is always a guilt trip whenever I have to say no to someone who requests access to something.

You will notice that your posts and your questions get more attention if you actively help others.

Sure. Having observed this forum grow over the years, I can tell you that the success of any new idea takes the active cooperation of members. All of you need to be proactive (be nice and patient) about asking the admitted students to send in their essay to me or post it on the about to be developed new forum.

Yeah. I think that's why the control on who gets access to the sample essays should be with the CEOs only.

ps. I also think that for 2008ers past essays (successful or not) from the 2007ers will be very helpful. Obviously 2007ers should also ensure that there's no personal information available in those essays - just as we were planning to do in our essays for the future applicants.

OK, I have created a new sub-forum titled " Admitted Student Essays".

If you dont see it, you do not have access to it yet. Dont fret. We just started this thing and I dont even know where it is going to go. I will spend some time activating access to more members. Its a mindless boring process, so be patient with me. :(

Take it away people. Its all up to you guys now. You know who you are.

YAY for Praet!!!

Well, I will populate it when I get into schools... but we can definitely start "bugging" admits who still visit to see if they will put something in... like rhyme, GMAT_73, aaudetat, pelihu, lepium, naturallight, and others...

So if you ever do talk to them, just hint at it a little and see if they are willing.

Be careful about talking to admitted members about their essays. It is a personal thing for most students and they have every right to decline participation.

Hi Praet,

of course, we're not going to kidnap their first born and force them to submit their essays ;) hee hee

We'll just be... very "persuasive" ;)

You would be surprised at how little it takes to offend someone, especially when they cannot see you and feel the tone of your voice. Its not for nothing that I am a be-nice evangelist freak.

Just finished my outline for the 1st wharton essay and it's 782 words long. Lol, Kryzak I see what you were saying about your outlines being as long as the essay word length. I'm starting to freak out now, with 5 weeks to go before the deadline...can't imagine how I'll be in 4 weeks.

We should come up with an action plan one what the 08ers can do to help out? Anybody who wants to have a leadership opportunity to write about? Here's your chance :P

I'll help out even if I don't get access. Just let me know what I can do.

shmegs, yeah... it's hard work, but eventually you can cut it down to "near" the word limit... to cut it down more, I'll need to work with a English major friend of mine ;)
