I am going to go with B

Here is my rationale - This is an Yes or No type question.

Explanation to statement 1 is already given above. Now moving on to statement 2...

In both cases, when x=0 and 0<x<1 the answer is No. so sufficient.

if u take x=0, and x=0.4, results are different. I think the tricky part is the equal sign

I'm going with E here.
(1) X<1/2
if x=1/3, x^2 <x
x=-2, x^2>x -not sufficient
(2) 0<=x<1
if x=1/3 => x^2<x
x=0 => x^2=x, which means is not > => not sufficient

(1) (2) we have that 0<=x< 1/2
if you take the examples from (2) => not sufficient

X^2>x?
1) if x double, the result is less than 1
2) 0<=x<1

OK .folks I was doing this problem when i was half asleep..now that i hav rested..here is how to do this..

Question asks X^2>X? YES or NO..

1) x=-1, 2*-x=-2.. or x=1/2 x^2=1/4 Insuff

2) 0<=x<1...

well either way x^2 cannot be greater than X..its either at most 0; i.e x=0..or x=0.99 then x^2 is definetly less than X...
Sufficient

B it is..
