Statement 1: No matter X or/and Y is positive or negative, the modulus makes it positive. This, it is clear that modX - modY = 3.

Statement 2: for different values of X, Y will be different.

Thus, A.

Answer should be E as for statement 1 for ×=1 y=-2 which in turn gives the values of modulus x - modulus y as 1.

From 1:
X & y can be +ve terms 4 & 1 or -2 & -1 so insufficienet

From 2 :
For any +ve or -ve value of x we get get y so insufficeint

From 1 &2 :
we dont get any conclusive info... IMO E ..

and Y are two non zero numbers. What is the value of |X| - |Y|?

(1) X - Y = 3

(2) Y = X^2 - 15

|X| - |Y| >= |X-Y| if x and y same signs and if |X| > |Y|

Statement 1 clearly can have solutions where X and Y both are positive X=4 and y =1 or a solution where X = -2 and y =-5 . but here the condition |X| > |Y| this will not be satisfied in the second case . So NS

Statement 2 can have solutions where x and y have same signs ( X= 4, y =1 ) or X=-4 or y =1 ( different signs ) So not sufficient .

please correct me if i am wrong
