I) (x^-3)(y^-2)=36^-1

I) x*y^-1=6^-1

(1) (1/x^3)*(1/y^2) = (1/36) ==> x = 1 or y = Â± 6 ==> Insufficient

(2) x*(1/y) = (1/6) ==> x = 1/6, y = 1 or x = 1, y = 6 ==> Insufficient

(1) + (2) y = 6 and x = 1

when i is multiplied by ii,

 [1/{(x^3)(y^2)} = (1/36)(1/6)
1/{(x^2)(y^3)} = 1/6^3

Here is my take
I. a is positive, b is positive or negative- insuff
I dont think the numbers have to be integers.

II. a/b=1/6-just a ratio, answer could be anything-insuff
 a, b are both positive or both negative

Both-

2 equations, 2 variables- sufficient

a and b are both positive
a^3*b^2=36
a/b=1/6
